From 7th to 11th July 2025, Holy Family Virika Hospital hosted a highly impactful Vesicovaginal Fistula (VVF) surgical camp in collaboration with Catholic Religious Sisters Health Care Initiative Uganda, with specialized surgeons committed to restoring dignity and hope to affected women.
The camp provided free surgical repair to women suffering from VVF, a devastating condition that often results from prolonged obstructed labor and significantly affects quality of life. Over the course of five days, dozens of women received life-changing surgeries, alongside pre-operative and post-operative care delivered by our dedicated medical team.
Beyond the surgical interventions, the camp also served as an opportunity for awareness creation, education on maternal health, and community outreach to reduce stigma around fistula and encourage early health-seeking behaviors.
